Great Day
Congratulations to Barack & Family, congrats to African-Americans young and old (WE DID IT!!!!), and congrats to young, progressive, open minded people of all races that made this historic and beautiful moment in time happen. Words can't describe how happy I am today. I thought that I would never see this happen in my lifetime. It's so inspiring to see this black man take on the world and win. I'm so elated that I can tell my son that he too can be president one day, without any doubt in my mind. My parents also told me I could be president one day. But it was hard to believe when none of the past presidents share your complexion. Those days are over. I will be present at the innauguration. There is no way I will let history go down 20 minutes from my house without witnessing it. Again, congrats to Barack. We can do anything!!!!

DRAKE
We heard about this cat Drake in 2006 from his manager T. Slack, who we do business with from time to time. At that time he only had a r&b-ish type joint out with Trey Songz. I thought it was cool, but it really didn't move me. But a few months ago, I downloaded his mixtape "Comeback Season", and he is now one of my favorite mc's. Dude is an original, because not only does he spit that crazy, fly, slick, witty shit that I love to hear, but the cat also sings his own hooks!!! And I know what ya'll are thinking, "that's not that original fam!". But nah, he actually sings WELL!!! Drake kills on this mixtape, and he absolutely destroys the "Barry Bonds" beat. Dude deserves much more attention than he's getting, but you know how that goes. I put him at the top of the list as far as the new school mc's are concerned.

Unreleased Wale - Darkoom Archives # 1

Pardon me, I haven't been blogging alot lately, i've been working on alot of good shit that I will let the world know about later. In the meantime i've been peeping Skyzoo's archives series lately, and I figured I should release my own. I know i'm biting, but it's my first time doing so, so forgive me. Shit, we got some rare and wonderful gems in our archives that we have not let the world hear. Most of the selections in our archives come from recording sessions for "The Wire" score and soundtracks. Most of the mc's from our archives weren't popping at the time of recording, but they were dope, so we worked with them, plain and simple(shouldn't talent be enough, fuck a co-sign). Now looking at our archives, we kind of feel like the world's greatest a&r's, because our files look like a 08' hip-hop all-star team. For example the first selection that I will release from the archives is a track that was recorded in early 2006 by Wale for the season 4 score of "The Wire". At the time Wale was hot only here in the DMV. I heard him on a mixtape, and I thought he was the truth, so I instantly reached out to him to do some work. When I asked him to do a joint for "The Wire" score, I suggested that he write about niggas hating. He was killing DC radio at the time, and I haven't seen a local cat get that many spins on DC radio since Stinky Dink (google it), so I knew cats was hating on him religously. Unfortunately, if you get a little success in this area, cats make it their duty to let you know that you aint shit. It's sad, i've seen local dudes hate on Angel Lola Luv ?!?!? Now how in the fuck is a DUDE gonna hate on a female for allegedly having fake titties and a fake ass?!?!? That's female shit!, I could care less if her body parts are fake, shorty is beautiful and getting money, what are ya'll doing ??? But that's the unique kind of hate going on here in the DMV. Dudes lose their male morals and values to hate on a more successful cat. I'm sorry, i'm getting off the topic, i'm just saying if ya'll are not from here, you don't know about the haters here in the DMV, it's crazy. But anyway, two days later after I gave the track to Wale he sent me the finished song "Hate". I think you can hear the authenticity of his feelings about haters in this song, because he was going through it at that time, and he delivered. Unfortunately, Blake Leyh, (the music supervisor for "The Wire") couldn't find a proper spot to place the song on "The Wire" for season 4 or season 5, so it was never heard until now. I love this song, because I can relate, and i'm sure all the people that are thriving in this world can relate as well. Much respect to Wale, dude is a monster and he's about to scorch the earth next year when his shit drops. And i'm sure he will accumulate even more haters than he already has.

Best song on commercial radio right now!
Ryan Leslie is making the best songs on the radio right now. "Diamond Girl" was my shit, and this joint is my SHIT!!! Dude is a great producer, so refreshing. And Fab is killing every guest verse he has appeared on in the past few months. Hopefully this energy spills into both of their upcoming albums.
